Activating Payroll Items in QuickBooks

QuickBooks Payroll subscribers will always have payroll items turned on.

If you are not using QuickBooks Payroll, payroll items are optional. Follow these steps to turn them on:

  • Click Help in QuickBooks, select QuickBooks Help.
  • Type in Manual Payroll in the Search function.
  • Click Process Payroll Manually (without a subcription to QuickBooks Payroll).
  • Click Manual Payroll Calculations.
  • Click Set My Company File To Use Manual Calculations.
  • Click OK.
Payroll items will now appear in the Lists drop-down menu.
