QuickBooks Payroll subscribers will always have payroll items turned on.
If you are not using QuickBooks Payroll, payroll items are optional. Follow these steps to turn them on:
- Click Help in QuickBooks, select QuickBooks Help.
- Type in Manual Payroll in the Search function.
- Click Process Payroll Manually (without a subscription to QuickBooks Payroll).
- Click Manual Payroll Calculations.
- Click Set My Company File To Use Manual Calculations.
- Click OK.
Payroll items will now appear in the Lists drop-down menu.
